BIO BULGARIA OIL Co-operative was established in February 2004 and consists of 9 members, most of whom are very active organic farmers.
The co-operative members are farmers with rich and many years experience and produce in organic way since 2001. The decision for the creation of their own union (in this case in the form of a co-operative) came with the new requirements for entering the EU. Also the change of the situation in the country and the necessity for finding a place on the international market, which cannot happen without providing products’ good quality and enough quantity, pushed us towards this step. The factor that united the farmers is the common interest of these people – they are strongly decided to be organic and to aim on the international market for their products.
The total amount of the certified land is about 6 hectares. It is more a marketing than a production co-operative. The farmers are responsible for their production (which does not exclude help to each other), but the sale of the production is a responsibility of the co-operative.
The co-operative will mainly provide processing of the products and help in the terms of: control and certification, seasonal capital, finding market and sales of the products, business plans, bank credits and other organizational activity like this.

The location determines the farmers’ basic sphere of activity. The Rose valley with its situation, climate and geographical conditions gives possibility for production of unique products like the Bulgarian rose oil. The quality of all essential products is among the best in the world if not the best.

There are three main groups organic products produced and proposed by the co-operative on the internal and external market:

organic essential oils and derivatives – lavender oil, rose oil, peppermint oil and others for which there is a market; rose and lavender water;
dried organic herbs – cultivated like peppermint and lavender; wild like linden, nettle, and chamomile;
organic rose, lavender and peppermint seedlings;

The production and the products of Bio Bulgaria Oil Co-operative are certified from the Swiss organization IMO which is presented in Bulgaria by “Balkanbiocert” Ltd.
