Eco-farm "ELATA" a project for preservation of the rare & unique Bulgarian breeds
"Elata" eco-farm is located among five mountains in a very beautiful location, where the view literally stops the breath of the visitors, the farm ensures life and protection for the rare local Bulgarian breeds like Karakachan horses and sheep, Karakachan dogs and the unique Rhodopa cows.
"Elata" farm is a long term project of EC BALKANIKA Association - a non-goverenmental organization, Our main objectives are:
to preserve indigenous Bulgarian breeds
to preserve the Bulgarian manner of living and traditions
to contribute to the protection of bio-diversity in Bulgaria
to develop bio-agriculture
In order to achieve sustainable development and life in conformity with nature, we tend to apply natural methods and practices in the making of home-made products, as the real Bulgarian yoghurt, real cheese, natural and ecologically clean jams from natural fruit, ljutenitzas, mixed pickles, etc.
We believe that these disappearing breeds are irreplaceable part of the precious bio-diversity of our country and not only it and they need to be preserved for the future generations, who shouldn’t lose connection with our ancestors and the surrounding nature.
The farm is a place where your family and friends can run away from the tension in the big city, where you can be close to nature, close to the Bulgarian essentials, close to yourself.
The farm’s staff organizes seasonal tastings and educational events, as well as solidarity picnics for children and their families. The most precious support for us are the voluntary and goodwill events for which we thank the volunteers and all of the friends that support us.
The nature is here – be our guests! We are awaiting you!!!
